DK Arts

DK Arts (est. 2005) is owned and operated by self-advocate, Dylan Kuehl. He proves that living with Down syndrome is not the obstacle it is often perceived to be. Dylan has won many awards for his art, been published in numerous books and magazines and continues to push beyond the boundaries and limits that can often be associated with Down syndrome or other disabilities. He started his business selling his art on cards, post cards, and prints. For the last three years, he has put down his pastel paints and begun learning the art of working with fused glass. He sells fused glass earrings, pendants, pins, drink coasters and trinket dishes. He is also a motivational speaker, who talks about his successful business and life. At this year's conference, he will be sharing his successful, yet challenging journey into post-secondary education at his local four year matriculated college,The Evergreen State College. Dylan is the first person with Down syndrome in the entire state of Washington to be accepted in a matriculated college. He represents hard work and determination, not only in his business as a visual artist, but also in his personal day to day life. He is the lead drummer in the band called, Living the Dream, whose mission is to demonstrate what INCLUSION sounds and looks like. The band exemplifies INCLUSION and focuses on ABILITIES. He was taught early in life not to be afraid to show his abilities and to be proud of himself. Come visit Dylan in the exhibitors hall to see and purchase his beautiful pieces of art, listen to him speak about his journey into college and listen and enjoy his band, Living the Dream perform on Wednesday and Thursday. Dylan loves living his life with Down syndrome. He says he wouldn't have it any other way. Let Dylan be an example of what's possible when we surround ourselves with people who believe in you and say YES to our dreams. Dylan is an inspiration. Meet him and be inspired to reach for your dreams and celebrate your abilities
